We walk alongside children from age 1 to 25, many of whom come from families living in poverty. Some have supportive parents, but many grow up in difficult circumstances without access to early education, tutoring, or further studies.

Thanks to Education Sponsorships, children can grow and thrive through our Daycare, After-School Program, Scholarship Program, or Assistant Program. They learn to take responsibility, discover their strengths, and become a positive influence in their communities.

After graduating from school, we continue to support them – through university scholarships, practical help, and Christian leadership training.

In Cambodia, early childhood education is severely lacking. Kindergartens are neither free nor easily accessible – many families simply can't afford daycare for their children. That’s why it’s so important for us to offer a free, high-quality alternative.

Our goal is to provide children with a loving and enriching environment before they start school, giving them the best possible foundation for their educational journey.

Since February 2021, we’ve been building our own ICF Daycare. Because there is no formal training for early childhood educators in Cambodia, we intentionally started small. We began by focusing on a small group of children–only the children of our staff – and trained three team members step by step in early childhood education.

Together, we developed our first educational concept, created a daily routine, and designed activities like playtime, crafts, sports, and more. All of this took place in a safe and supportive setting, allowing us to gain practical experience and prepare our team well.

A New Milestone in 2025:

We’ve now taken a big step forward – since 2025, we’re not only caring for ICF staff children but also welcoming the first sponsored children from our Child Sponsorship Program. Currently, our daycare serves 25 children between the ages of 1 and 6!

Our big dream is to create a dedicated daycare space on our new campus where all sponsored children and staff kids can grow, learn, and play together.

After School program

It all started with Covid, when schools shut down due to the pandemic, it hit children from very poor families especially hard.

In June 2020, when schools shut down due to the pandemic, it hit children from very poor families especially hard. Without access to online learning, many quickly fell behind – some even had to start working to support their families.

To counter this, we launched our Study Groups in local villages. Teenagers from our program gave tutoring sessions in core subjects several afternoons a week. This helped younger children catch up in school while giving the teens valuable teaching experience. The small stipend they received from ICF was a lifeline for many families, as the collapse of tourism wiped out most sources of income.

The next big step: Our After-School Program

In January 2022 – when schools finally reopened – we took our Study Groups to the next level and launched our After-School Program for primary school students from grades 1 to 6.

By 2025, around 160 registered children attend the program four days a week from 1:00 to 5:00 PM on our campus. During the first two hours, they receive lessons in Math and Khmer – taught by our committed and enthusiastic University Scholarship Students (more info below).

From 3:00 to 5:00 PM, the children follow their learning plans and take part in additional activities like sports, games, creative workshops, music, and even Bible class.

Why is this so important?

Because many students drop out of school later on – usually between grades 7 and 9. The reason? In their early years, they couldn’t keep up due to overcrowded classrooms, a lack of teachers, and the challenges of the Khmer language.

This is exactly where we step in. We help children build a strong foundation – for a brighter future!

Since 2016 – Opportunities for students from Grade 7 onwards

In Cambodia, it’s still common for children to simply follow in their parents’ footsteps when it comes to work. Talents and individual strengths often go unnoticed. That’s exactly where our Scholarship Program comes in. Since 2016, we’ve been supporting high-achieving students – the top performers at their public schools – starting from Grade 7. They come from our Child Sponsorship Program, After-School Program, or Kids Church, and we support them holistically: academically, personally, and practically.

From 2016 to 2024, we’ve supported 35 students through the program. In 2025, 16 students from Grades 7 to 12 are actively part of the Scholarship Program.

What does a typical day look like?

In the mornings, they attend a private school. At lunchtime, they come to the ICF Campus, have a break, and then spend the afternoon with homework support, English and computer classes, mentoring sessions with our Scholarship Coordinators, and a short devotion time.

More than just school – growing personally

Each grade level has its own additional program components tailored to the students’ age and needs – for example, art therapy, self-study time, community projects, or sports. The students also take on small responsibilities: helping with dishes after lunch, keeping the campus clean, or preparing materials for Kids Church services.

What matters to us:

Our focus isn’t only on academic success. We aim to strengthen the students’ character and faith, help them process both old and new traumas, and encourage them to discover their strengths and take responsibility for their lives.

Assistant Program

A chance to work without having to drop out of school. The teens have the opportunity to take on a mini-job on the campus.

In addition to our Scholarship Program, which targets high-achieving students, we also have the Assistant Program. This program is designed for teens in Grades 8 to 12 who want to continue their education but are facing such severe financial difficulties at home that they need to earn money.

Through the Assistant Program, the teens have the opportunity to take on a mini-job on our campus – for example, in areas like Sports, Creative activities, Play, or Daycare. They commit to continuing their regular school attendance.

We also work closely with our Child Sponsorship Program and Youth Church. Our ICF Social Workers inform us when families from the Sponsorship Program/Youth Church are facing such extreme financial hardship that they are considering taking their oldest child out of school to work. We then reach out to the parents and the teen, offering them a safe, supervised mini-job instead.

In 2025, 16 teenagers will receive a small stipend, as well as financial support for their own tutoring. They also receive a daily lunch on campus, weekly devotions, and one-on-one mentoring from an ICF Social Worker from the Education Team.

This creates a safe environment where teens can work, take on responsibility, and gain valuable experience – without jeopardizing their education or being exposed to exploitative or dangerous working conditions.

University Scholarship

Empower the Next Generation!

The younger generation in Cambodia is hungry for education and change. The world is open to them through social media, and many young people in Cambodia want to make a difference.

Through our University Scholarship Program, we reach this passionate young generation. This program also emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic, initially starting with young people teaching children in the villages – the so-called Tutoring Program. When we launched the After-School Program on campus, we transformed the Tutoring Program into the University Scholarship Program.

In 2025, we have 16 university students who hold part-time jobs as tutors in the After-School Program (ASP) at ICF, and we financially support their university costs. They also receive lunch on campus.

Weekly, they prepare tutoring sessions for the 160 ASP kids and then support ICF teachers in various activities throughout the year, including sports, creative arts, play, music, and Bible classes. This allows them to gain diverse experiences.

Alongside their part-time jobs, the students participate in the University Leadership Academy, where our Board of Directors (BoD) members primarily train them in Christian leadership, and they also attend weekly Bible classes.

Program Goal

The goal of the University Scholarship Program is to establish this passionate young generation on a strong foundation in both faith and character. We want them to go into society after completing the program and contribute their healthy values to NGOs, businesses, and other sectors without being influenced by corruption or unethical practices. They are meant to be role models and bring about positive change in society.

A Safe Place for Every Child

During the week, we offer many programs – always with a strong focus on children from families living in poverty. Some of these children have parents who, despite their difficult circumstances, understand the value of education and actively sign their children up for our free programs.

But there are also many children whose parents are unable to provide this support or who don’t have access to educational opportunities.

That’s exactly why we created our Weekend Program – a low-threshold, open-door offer with as few barriers as possible, so that every child can simply come and join in. The program takes place on weekends, during school holidays, and on public holidays.

Our campus is open for children from the Child Sponsorship & neighborhood. The Kids and Teens can take part in sports, games, and creative activities – no registration needed, no pressure, just a welcoming space to be.

Over 100 children join us regularly. We see them grow – in their physical, creative, and social skills, in confidence, joy, and courage.

Our goal: to offer every child a safe place where they feel welcome – and where they can experience God's love in a practical way.
